This project is located in the Economic Development Zone at Wuxi, Jiangsu. As WAYZIM’s new headquarters office building, this project is embedded with the opportunity to reshape its corporate image and to offer a better workplace environment for all workers. The design tries to answer to the needs of business owners, employees, the government, and other stakeholders. The spatial configuration aims at providing a comfortable and creative office environment and emphasizes the diversity of programs and the flexibility of space division. The office, exhibition, catering, and leisure communication spaces are integrated to form an interspersed relationship, making employees’ daily work more enjoyable. The space organization is designed to increases communication opportunities among employees, provides a scene for diverse behaviors, and makes the office space full of vitality.
本项目位于江苏无锡锡山区经济开发区。作为中科微至的新总部办公楼，本项目很好的塑造了科技企业的企业形象。设计对接企业主、员工、政府等多方的需求，功能空间配置充分考虑为科技企业提供舒适、富有个性的办公环境和未来的发展空间。为塑造新兴科技企业的创新形象，设计强调功能定位的多样性和空间分割的灵活性。办公、展览、餐饮、休闲交流空间融合在一起形成相互穿插的关系，使得员工的日常工作变得更加有趣味性。这样的功能空间组织增加了员工之间交流的机会，为多样的行为提供了场景，也使办公空间充满活力。
YUZO Design was commissioned by Wayzim in 2017 to design its headquarter (HQ) office in Xishan Industrial park at Wuxi, Jiangsu province, a fast-growing location for the high-tech technology and manufacturing industry. The headquarters office was completed and was put into use in 2020. YUZO’s Design combines social and technical performance for the young technology company, and provided a total design solution with architecture, interiors and landscape for this project. This HQ office helps strengthen Wayzim’s position as a driver of technical innovation in intelligent logistic technology industry.
The original campus planning was done by another design institution, with a separated planning for office building and dinning hall. YUZO proposed a new plan, which combines dining with office with a rooftop terrace on the third floor that provides outdoor activities for the employees during workday. The semi-enclosed courtyard between office building and the dining hall serves as the entrance to the building and provides visual access to various programs which allows connections happen in an intimate way.
The brand-new HQ office includes flexible workspace and collaboration space, a showroom, a three-story dining hall, and a rooftop terrace with river view. The goal of this project is to provide a workplace for workers to socialize and to improve their well-being. The design seeks to balance the need for innovative corporate image and support the employees’ work life through a mixing diverse programs and outdoor activities together in the complex.
The exterior of the office building facade emphasizes the contrast between volume of stone façade and the lightness of glass curtain wall. Aluminum panels in orange color are applied as the theme color of this project and adds a layer vibrance in the carve-ins. The glass volume is articulated with a random pattern of aluminum panels curtain system which offers a playful, yet highly functional sun-shading purpose. The dining hall is housed in a three-story building with a pitched roof, to differentiate from the office building in form. The double height space on the second floor with ultra-clear glass curtain walls provides great visual access from the inside out.
Another main design approach of this project is to engage outdoor spaces and landscapes so that the river view on the west side of the building could be enjoyed and become part of the employees’ work experience in this building. The outdoor staircases provide employees easy access to the outdoor spaces at different levels. Employees take walk trials along the river, meet and gather on the rooftop terrace, and find outdoor space to be alone and rest.
